The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Dolly Cornish can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Life Story for Dolly Cornish (Bird)

Dolly Cornish (Bird)
CORNISH, Dolly (Edna G.)
On Sunday January 24, 2016, Dolly (née Bird) passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s of the Lake Hospital in Kingston. She was 73. Dolly was the beloved wife of John, mother to Dan (Haruko) and Chris (Todd) and loving Grandmother to Mitchell. She was the dear sister to Bob Bird, Dee LaFrance, Mary Flynn, Dick Bird (deceased) and Ginny Dame. Dolly had a knack of making friends easily and will be remembered for her smile, humour, generosity and for her easy approachability. Since retiring 15 years ago from Hotel Dieu X-Ray, Dolly has been active in her community volunteering her time to the Gananoque Food Bank and to the Gardens at St. John’s Catholic Church and the Thousand Islands Playhouse. The family will receive friends at the Tompkins Funeral Home 63 Garden St. Gananoque on Thursday from 3-5 and 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. John the Evangelist Church on Friday January 29 at 1pm. Interment will be held in Willowbank cemetery at a later date. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations to the Gananoque Food bank, Willowbank cemetery or to the U.H.K.F. (Cancer Centre) would be appreciated by the family. Heartfelt thanks from John, Dan and Chris for the overwhelming support we’ve received from our dear friends and neighbours during Dolly’s illness. We’re so grateful to be part of this caring community. Also, we salute the excellence of the caring medical teams of Hotel Dieu, KGH, The Kingston Cancer Centre and St. Mary’s of the Lake, who saw her through her final weeks.
